The State of the Royal Library
Many of you have written to inquire about the progress of the forthcoming volumes in the Official Guide and Logbook series. Your enthusiasm is touching, if somewhat demanding.
Let me assure you that the work continues, though the toll it takes on my constitution is severe. Researching the Cheese volume alone required me to endure a tasting in a draughty cave in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, during which I caught a chill that lingered for a fortnight. The sacrifices I make for your edification are truly boundless.
The Wine and Whiskey volumes proceed apace. I am currently locked in a bitter dispute with my illustrator over the exact curvature of a Glencairn glass, an argument I fully intend to win.
As for Chocolate, I find the subject requires repeated, intensive study, often late into the evening. I anticipate it will be the most arduous volume to complete, though I shall bear the burden with my usual grace.
The Caviar volume, of course, is available now. I suggest you acquire it immediately, if only to spare yourself the embarrassment of a faux pas at your next gala.
Yours, with a raised brow and a raised glass,
